Spaces
Schaumburg, Illinois
This 4 bedroom ranch in a quiet neighborhood in Schaumburg, Illinois has been completely redesigned, updated, & remodeled over the past three years by Furniture Artist/Designer Decnie "Sissy" Jeschke of www.LoveSissy.com
This house features commercial grade engineered hardwood (real Maple impregnanted with a polymer designed to increase the durability of the floor--this flooring is generally used for high traffic & commercial spaces, but why not use it for your home? You'll never have to replace it!), radiant heating (heated floors throughout), a retreat like backyard with three separate patio spaces (one with a built in firepit). The house has two living spaces and a spacious 2 1/2 car garage/workshop. This home is incredibly energy efficient! The radiant heating, new whole house fan, & independent built in air conditioning units (in two bedrooms & both living rooms), along with mature trees all around the house keep the house at very comfortable temperature year round using very little energy (and costing very little money). Our utility bills are, on average, about 50-75% less than a typically heated/cooled (forced air) home. And no forced air/no ducts mean fewer aggravations for those with allergies.
Lot size is almost 10,000 square feet (111 x90).
Interior, living space = 1800 square feet with an additional 300 square feet of outdoor patio space & 515 square feet of heated/cooled garage/workshop space.

Entry Way & Dining Room (16 x 13)
Enter through the front door into an entry way filled with natural light. New light fixtures, Maple flooring, & an open floor plan. A large closet (new doors 2011) in the entry way provides ample storage. The entry way leads to the dining room. Spacious dining area will accommodate a large table & has a gorgeous, one of a kind, artist created genuine Lake Michigan beach rock (nicknamed "Beach Slate") breakfast bar. Use this area for extra seating, quick meals, or to interact with the cook during gatherings. It's also a fantastic place to set out food when entertaining. The star of this home is the original brick fireplace that can be seen from the entry way, dining room, kitchen, & living room. A great space for displaying treasures & family photos!
Kitchen (10 x10)
Open concept with great counter space and SO MUCH STORAGE! Completely renovated & updated kitchen, ceramic tile, custom back splash, custom Maple cabinetry. French doors lead to second living space.
Living Room (22 x 13)
The entry way & dining room lead to the first of two living spaces. This large space features a gorgeous, original brick fire place, floor to ceiling windows/sliding doors (new in 2010 & energy efficient!) that lead to a paver patio (2011) (great spot for drinking coffee & reading the paper) in a privately fenced (2011) back yard, built in high efficiency a/c unit (which is large enough to cool the entire home!)
Back yard (approx. 50 x 110)
Exit through the sliding doors (2010) (additional exits located through laundry room & garage) to the large, fenced (new Cedar fence 2011) in backyard. Very private, retreat like. Great for dogs, kids, & entertaining, the yard features multiple patios, a built in firepit (2010), a shed (with a concrete foundation), and two trees with a hammock.
Hallway & Bathroom (4 x 12) & (6 x 10)
Back through the living room & off of the dining room & entryway are the home's bedrooms. The hallway features two spacious closets (new doors 2011) & a front entry way closet & a very large linen closet. The full bath (tub & shower) has many updates including The Champion--a no-clog toilet, new fixtures, flooring, & exhaust fan. The whole house exhaust fan (2009) is located in the center of the home in the hallway & is a fantastic invention! On hot summer days we turn the whole house fan on for a few minutes in the morning, shut the windows, & the house stays cool all day & evening! No a/c needed!
Bedroom 1 (14 x 10)
Stylish, unique touches such as a wall to wall "L shaped" built in desk, custom barnwood/barnlight light fixture, & framed corked board. Maple Flooring continues throughout all of the bedrooms & each bedroom features large closets with custom shelving for ample storage space. Vintage frames & "beachy" accessories.
Bedroom 2 (11 x 10)
Maple wood floors, spacious closet with shelving
Master Bedroom & Bathroom (14 x 11) & (5 x 7)
Maple floors continue, his & hers large spacious closets with custom shelving, lots of natural light, a full master bathroom with newly updated shower/tile/flooring/vanity mirror/light fixtures.
Bedroom 4 (11 x 7)
This room is currently set up as a 4th bedroom, but we've also used it as an office, craft room, & music room/recording studio. This space has pull down stairs that give you access to the unfinished attic storage space. This room meets all the legal code requirements for a bedroom including the width, length, ceiling height, and access point requirements (floor to ceiling window). We use an armoire for clothing storage, but a built in closet could easily be added. We like the flexibility of being able to move & rearrange the furniture so we chose not to do a built in closet in a fixed location.
Front Living Room (22 x 16)
Gorgeous, new, custom built-ins, Maple flooring, separate entrance to outside, heated & air conditioned separately, access to the backyard, laundry room, & garage, and features a bonus room/4th bedroom.
Laundry Room/Mud Room (10 x 9)
Completely updated floor to ceiling. New flooring (vinyl plank wood--water resistant & maintenance free--great for high traffic areas), new cabinetry. Designed to maximize every square inch of space with creative, functional, & decorative storage solutions. There is a counter top for folding laundry (which also doubles as a place to hide laundry hampers) & there is ample shoe storage behind the door with a custom shelving unit. Huge pantry (behind curtain) for additional storage. Chalkboard paint on the inside of the cabinet is a great place to write notes, leave phone messages, and write to do & grocery lists.
2.5 car Garage/Workspace (515 sq feet)
Outfitted with a gas heater & an air conditioning unit this is a fully functional space year round. Epoxy floors make for easy clean up & a wall to wall work bench & floor to ceiling shelving keep it organized & easy to use. There is an area for a garbage & recycling center, an area to store bicycles & equipment, and the large sliding doors provide easy access to the back yard. There is additional storage space in the rafters of the garage & in the shed in the back yard. In addition to all of those functions, the garage also, at the same time, fits 2 cars! Access door to the front yard (as well as the sliding doors that go to the back). A gate just outside the garage provides further access to the backyard. A built in ramp makes carrying large items/wheeling large items into the house a breeze!
